Mouth-watering aromas of passionfruit and lemongrass led with the spiciness of just-picked tomatoes tossed with fresh basil. Many small parcels of fruit, ripened under ideal conditions, bring layers of complexity to the 2006 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc. The palate has exceptional richness, with ripe gooseberry flavors and a hint of fresh fennel leading to a powerful, crisp finish.
Wine Spectator An impressive return to form for a benchmark producer. Fine-grained and subtle, with lime juice, passion fruit, green apple and grapefruit flavors. Tart citrus, grass and stone nuances shape a deft finish. Drink now. Score: 91. —Daniel Sogg, April 30, 2007.Wine Enthusiast Marlborough's standard-bearer continues to turn out vintage after vintage of worthy wines. CB's 2006 Sauvignon is marginally less rich than the 2005, but still offers plenty of crisp, tangy tropical flavors. Pineapple and grapefruit notes finish with a grassy edge. Score: 90. —Joe Czerwinski, March 01, 2007.
