Domaine de Nizas Coteaux de Languedoc 2003
With a deep garnet color, this wine develops fragrant perfumes of blackberries, billberries, spices and southern herbs evoking the Mediterranean in aroma and taste. On the palate, the wine is well balanced and clean, becoming round and full bodied, before a long finish on the soft, ripe tannins. This powerful and elegant Mediterranean wine will be the ideal partner to a lamb tajin with candied grapes and almonds or braised duck with licorice sauce. Wine & Spirits This earthly syrah blend captures the Mediterranian in it's woodsy, black fruit. The flavor brings to mind the vineyards rocky soils, 20 miles from the Mediterranean; the tannin supports the plummy richness, smoothing out into a hedonistic, bacon scented finish. Score: 91.Wine Spectator Medium- to full-bodied, with mouthfilling flavors of kirsch, raspberry, dark plum and spice. The long finish echoes the fruit and is accented by notes of sandalwood and cherry pie. Syrah, Mourvedre and Grenache. Drink now through 2012. Score: 89. —Kim Marcus, August 31, 2007. Wine Enthusiast Fresh and juicily fruity, even after its 4 years of aging, this wine has a good southern warmth and ripeness, full of blackberry flavors and a subtle touch of tannin and dryness under the sweet fruit. It would benefit from another year’s aging. Score: 89. —Roger Voss, December 15, 2007. |
