Forth Vineyards
Every wine is an expression. It is at the same time tangible and palpable, ephemeral and evanescent. A philosophy of balance that compels us to sacrifice thousands of valuable clusters each summer to preserve the deep concentration of flavor and rich ripeness in the fruit of each vine. A philosophy of patience that causes us to nurture the wine in barrels for years to achieve just the right nuance and depth of character.

Even at four-plus years, this interesting Syrah needs a little more time to show its best because, while it’s very good now, it’s tight in tannins that shut the palate down. Decanting will help, and so will big, rich foods such as duck and lamb. But the cherry, blackberry, white pepper and sweet leather flavors will blossom after 2008, and the wine should hold and improve through 2011.
