Wine Advocate The 2003 Amarone Selezione Antonio Castagnedi is ample and sweet, with a seamless texture packed with ripe fruit, spices and toasted oak. Even though it is an attractive wine , it already appears to be softening and is probably best consumed over the next several years. It is made from Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara selected from two of the estate's vineyards. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2011. Score: 91. —Antonio Galloni, October 2007.

Wine Enthusiast Run by four jolly brothers, Tenuta Sant’Antonio was originally purchased as grazing land before the family decided to try its luck with grapevines. Thankfully they did: This is one of the most exciting estates outside the Classico zone. This special selection wine delivers clean cherry nuances, soft toast and enduring coffee-vanilla flavors. Score: 90. —Monica Larner, October 01, 2007.

Wine Spectator Lots of nuts, dried fruit and clean mineral character on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins, lots of flavor and a long finish. Best after 2008. Score: 90. —Jo Cooke, April 30, 2007.
